Thanksgiving recipe special

Are you looking for a wonderful roll recipe for you Thanksgiving menu? This recipe is a family favorite, something my mom made every Thanksgiving and Christmas. They are worth the time that is needed to make them.

Crescent Rolls

2 packets of yeast

¾ c. warm water

½ c. sugar

1t. sea salt

2 eggs

¼ c. cocunut shortening

¼ c. soft butter

4 c. unleached, non enriched flour

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Dissolve Yeast into warm water. Stir in sugar, salt, shortening, and 2 cups of flour. Add eggs and mix well. Cover and let rise at least 1 ½ hours in warm place.

Divide dough in half. Roll each half out into a 12” circle onto smooth and well floured surface. Spread butter allover each circle. Coat well.

Cut into wedges (8) and roll each wedge beginning at the outside edge.

Place on greased baking sheet, cover and let rise for at least 1 more hour.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden. Brush with melted butter.

These are so delicious and a huge favorite. If you only need 8 rolls then for the other 8 spread with butter, cinnamon sugar, raisins or other desired fillings roll and you have breakast the next day! Or use granny smith apples, sliced, sprinkle on cinnamon and bake at 350 for an apple dumpling.
