Strawberry Sorbet and Frozen Margaritas

Many thanks to my brother and his wife for passing on their sorbet recipe. I made this on Thursday and we enjoyed it last night. It is very tasty and refreshing.

Strawberry Sorbet

2/3 c water

2/3 c sugar

2 pounds strawberries, hulled and sliced

1/2 of a lemon

Dissolve sugar in water over medium heat. Remove and let cool completely.

Place strawberries in a food processor and process until liquid. Strain through a mesh sieve. You have to work this a bit, constantly stirring and mashing to get all the juice through. Once strained add sugar-water and juice of 1/2 of a lemon. Stir well and freeze. Once it is completely frozen process in a food processor until it is a creamy consistency. Serve and enjoy.

Ok,  so I plan to make this with any berry and maybe do a berry mix. I also think it will be great with a mixture of strawberries, pineapple and bananas and some orange juice, a twist on the Slush recipe. Lots of hot summer days to play around with flavors.

Last night hubbie and I ate this virgin style but it was screaming for some Patron Silver or Monopolowa Vodka. I am partial to Patron so next time I think a frozen berry margarita will be on the menu.
