Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog.

My name is Bronwyn. I am a happily married wife and a mom to 4 active kids. I love to cook, bake and relieve all of life stresses by going out for a nice long run.

I have a corn allergy. It has been life changing and I had to change how I shopped, cooked, baked and ate. Convenience was gone and cooking everything from scratch was a must. Previously I left all the made from scratch cooking for holiday meals and desserts. During the week I let store-bought items such as condiments, salad dressings, some side dishes like rice and pasta come from a box or bottle and I bought my meat in bulk to feed my growing family. News of my allergy meant no more buying store shelf items to make cooking dinner quicker and easier. Things like some seasoning blends had to go, cake and muffin mixes, boxed dinners with seasoning packages like Red Beans and Rice, Uncle Ben’s Wild Rice and maccaroni and cheese and my beloved indulgences like donuts and ice cream were no more easily attainable.

Over time and with a lot of research I tweaked my family recipes, made substitutions and created new ones altogether. I now make seasoning mixes, marinades, dressings all from scratch. I had to find out where I could by milk, eggs, cheese and meats I could eat. I found out that even buying prepackaged and washed lettuce was not safe anymore. So now I buy it all fresh and wash it at home.

There are not many shortcuts with this allergy and if I don’t plan my meals in advance and do some prep work daily I am left to eating fruits and veggies for a meal. That’s all fine and when I travel sometimes that’s all I can eat but I am a meat and potatoes kinda girl and I cannot go to long without it. I plan to share my experiences with you along with some help making weekly menus, sharing a recipe and places I shop for corn free products and even the few restaurants I can dine out without worry.

I hope you find my blog helpful to you or to someone you love. If you are not a corn allergy sufferer but know someone who is stick around. One of the best things family or friends can do for me is let me know of new products they found out that are corn free and even better is when they make me a dish or dessert that is safe for me to eat. So take note mom, dad, Amanda,Meagan, Bubbie and the rest of my wonderful family. This will help you plan meals for me when I come to your house so I do not have to make my own dinner all the time.

    Hey Bronwyn!

I’m sorry to post this here but I couldn’t find an email address or some other way to send you a message.

I’m sending you this message because some of our forum members over at avoidingcorn.com have mentioned to me that your website is a valuable resource for people who are struggling with corn allergies. For this reason we have added your website to our list of helpful resources that we encourage newcomers to read.
We were also hoping you would consider adding a link on your site to our forum (http://Avoidingcorn.com). We believe that it could be a tremendous help to other people who are trying to live the corn-free lifestyle.
Our forum is new but has been taking off quite strongly. In case you aren’t familiar with our forum already, here is just a little bit about us: We are a not-for-profit group of friends who share our experiences to help each other learn the best way that we can live with this difficult allergy. Our forum charges no fees, shows no ads, and is run by people with corn allergies.

Thank you so much for all the hard work that you have put into your site. We appreciate your consideration for linking to us!

    Thank you for your time,

I too am allergic to corn and know how difficult it can be trying to navigate the process. Thank you for writing all your recipes and for encouraging folks to do research. I’ve taught a lot of my friends how to cook for me and they are always so amazed at the amount of corn that is in our food.

I also write a blog and produce products. I’d love for you to check it out http://www.maryleekitchen.com but I would also love to trade recipes on each other’s blog.

    Talk to you soon,

    Hey Bronwyn,

I just came across your blog and I love the fact that you embraced your corn allergy and made the most of it! You are such an inspiration to everyone that struggles with food allergies. It’s impressive that you now make and tweak your own recipes, that’s awesome! So many people are struggling to find foods that are safe to eat and that they enjoy eating. As I was reading your blog it made me realize I have something that would be very beneficial to you and your readers. If your readers could click on a phone app to come straight to your blog that also lets them find safe foods to eat and it cost you nothing, would you be interested? Let me know if you would like more information!:)
